Skinny在這裡和胖瘦沒有關係，這可不是在向人打聽一個瘦子。先來看skinny這個字。它多是當形容詞「皮包骨的」，但它亦可當名詞，指「內部消息、機密情報」，據傳過去軍隊會用一種薄紙張來印軍事資料，故有了skinny的名詞用法。“Get the skinny”是常見的搭配。例如：
I got the skinny from the boss about the new project.

川普的「緊縮預算案」Skin budget
Skin也曾被川普拿來形容大幅度刪減後的預算。

至於要稱讚別人很瘦，特別是好看的那種瘦的，我們也不用skinny，skinny是骨瘦如柴，不健康的瘦。

再來看，要打聽消息，還有哪些道地用法：
1. What’s the lowdown? 有何消息？
說明：lowdown相當於information（資訊、消息），老外經常會用get the lowdown on sb/sth表示「取得某人或某事的詳細資料」。例：
I need to get the lowdown on him before I can decide whether to hire him or not. 我必須先取得他的詳細資料才能決定是否雇用他。
2. What’s the scoop? 有何內幕？
說明：scoop是「一勺、勺子」，口語上則是指新聞的「獨家消息、搶先報導」，當動詞時表示「搶在…之前」。例：
If you want to get the scoop, ask Susan. 如果你想得到獨家消息，去問Susan。
